NBC 5 invites you to attend the Barrett Havran Memorial Big Taste of Fort Worth.

For forty years, Big Taste of Fort Worth has been one of Tarrant County’s premiere food and wine tasting events. This year’s Barrett Havran Memorial Big Taste of Fort Worth will be held on Sunday, April 7, at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. The event benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Barrett Martin Havran Little Steps Big Futures Program.

This year, 1,000 guests are expected to celebrate forty years of this outstanding event and experience an evening of decadent cuisine, premium wines, first class entertainment and an incredible auction. The VIP Wine Tasting will feature fifteen wineries from across the country, while the Main Tasting will feature twenty of Fort Worth’s finest restaurants and caterers!

Big Brothers Big Sisters provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. They believe that children who have a positive adult influence in their lives are better able to reach their full potential. They hold themselves accountable for the children in the program to achieve measureable outcomes: educational success, avoidance of risky behaviors, higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships.

While one-to-one mentoring is the core of what Big Brothers Big Sisters does, education has become a cornerstone in all of their mentoring programs. Big Brothers Big Sisters works to provide matches with the tools and resources necessary to help Littles achieve educational success and encourage them to pursue their future dreams. At the same time, it provides older Littles the guidance, support and tools necessary to graduate high school, attend college, join the military, and/or specialize in a trade to ultimately set them on a career path that leads to success in life. Last year, 98.2% of the children matched to a mentor in our program advanced to the next grade level.
