"I'll never forget everything we've been thru and every time I play the drums I'll think of you," he added in an additional Tweet.

But that wasn't all the pair shared. In September 2008, they survived a fatal Learjet crash that claimed four lives, including two pilots and two of Travis' friends and employees. Both stars were badly burned following the crash and hospitalized.

"U were an amazing friend/DJ/human being," Travis continued to Tweet. "Rest In Peace my brother, this really f***s me up."

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, DJ AM was found dead in New York City on Friday. He was 36.
