Oscar Darling Directors Eyed For ‘Breaking Dawn'

Coppola, Van Sant among those approached for director's gig

A slew of critically acclaimed directors are reportedly being eyed for the fourth big screen installment in Stephenie Meyer's vampire series – "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn."

According to Entertainment Weekly, Summit has reached out to Sofia Coppola – who earned an Oscar nomination for "Lost in Translation," Gus Van Sant – nominated for "Milk," and Bill Condon, who nabbed an Oscar for the screenplay of "Chicago," which he also directed.

Reps for Van Sant confirmed to EW, that he's been approached, but Coppola and Condon's camps were not immediately available for comment. Summit declined to comment.

According to the mag, no director decisions will be made until screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg finishes her detailed outline for what is expected to be two movies. SPOILER! The fourth chapter in "The Twilight Saga" contains a graphic birth scene with Bella and Edward.

The third movie, "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," directed by David Slade, hits movie theaters on June 30. "Breaking Dawn" is expected in 2011.
