Robin Williams Honored at Private Memorial: Family and Celebs Pay Tribute to Beloved Actor and Comedian

Hundreds of guests paid their final respects to the late Robin Williams Saturday afternoon at a private memorial.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Danny DeVito, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jeff Bridges and Ben Stiller were just some of the many co-stars and friends that traveled to the Curran Theatre in San Francisco, California to celebrate the actor's life.

Stevie Wonder provided the music while Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg, and Bonnie Hunt delivered emotional speeches. Williams' three children along with wife, Susan Schneider, also attended and spoke.

The special memorial comes after Williams died from asphyxia due to hanging on the morning of August 11. His wife confirmed after his death that the Oscar-winning star was also battling early stages of Parkinson's Disease.

"Robin's sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson's Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly," Schneider said in a statement. "It is our hope in the wake of Robin's tragic passing, that others will find the strength to seek the care and support they need to treat whatever battles they are facing so they may feel less afraid."

According to the late actor's official death certificate, Williams was cremated and his ashes were scattered in the San Francisco Bay on August 12.

Since his death, Williams was given a touching sendoff at the 2014 Emmy Awards by Crystal, his dear friend. He later told Matt Lauer it was "the hardest thing I've ever had to do."

His daughter, Zelda Williams, also returned to Twitter to thank fans for all the love and support she received after her dad's death.

"I just want to say thank you for all the stories and letters I've been receiving, especially from those who've also lost loved ones," she wrote. "I don't come online often, but reading of others who have death with this loss &gone on to live happy, full lives is helpful. Truly."

Zelda would later ask fans to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of her father.

Robin received millions of fans for his work in "Good Will Hunting," "Dead Poets Society," "Aladdin" and countless other projects. He remains deeply missed by fans and those in the Hollywood community.
