‘Mean Girls' Cast Asks Fans to Assist Las Vegas Shooting Victims

The cast is working with the National Compassion Fund to raise funds

The mean girls are hoping to raise money for a good cause.

It’s Oct. 3, also known as ‘Mean Girls’ Day for the legion of film's fans. And the cast of the hit comedy is marking the occasion by banding together to help victims of the Las Vegas shooting.

The actors of "Mean Girls," starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried, have started a GoFundMe campaign hoping to raise $300,000 for shooting victims. The cast is working with the National Compassion Fund, a program in the National Center for Victims of Crime, which also helped raise funds for victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, the Aurora movie theater shooting, and 9/11, according to the program's website.

“We know today is a special day,” Lacey Chabert, who played Gretchen Wieners, said in the video posted on the GoFundMe page.

She was followed by fellow castmate Amanda Seyfried, who played Karen Smith.

“After Sunday’s tragic events in Las Vegas, let’s give back,” said Seyfried.

The campaign had raised more than $21,000 in 19 hours, as of Tuesday afternoon. The first donation, in the amount of $1,003, was from Jonathan Bennett, who played Aaron, the love interest of Lindsay Lohan’s character.

Fans of the film deemed Oct. 3 ‘Mean Girls’ Day after the famous line of the lead character, Cady Heron, played by Lindsay Lohan.

“On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was,” Cady narrates in the film, referring to her crush, played by Bennett.

“It’s October 3rd,” she replies.

The cast is asking for just $3 per person, in honor of Oct. 3, to hit their $300,000 goal.

“Do something grool today,” reads the campaign page, referencing the movie’s famous made-up word. “We might not make fetch happen, but we can make this happen.”
