Mag releases its annual ranking, featuring formidable duos from the worlds of politics, entertainment and royalty

Dynamic duos, indeed.

Forbes magazine has released its 2013 ranking of the World's Most Powerful Couples, assembling an eclectic menagerie of formidable twosomes who span the worlds of entertainment, politics, media and, natch, royalty.

Surprise, surprise: President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama lead the pack--a no-brainer of a distinction, given that their spheres of influence stretch from Capitol Hill to Hollywood, the home front to beyond.

And in an curious twist, the mag says that FLOTUS actually trumps her hubby in the popular vote.

"With 67 percent of Americans viewing first lady Michelle Obama favorably, she's more popular than her husband," Forbes states.

Then again, this is a lady who graced the Oscars--a first for a FLOTUS--and whose bangs became a worldwide trending topic. (Even the president himself admitted defeat to the power of her 'do.)

A bevy of showbiz couples also made the cut: Music royalty Jay-Z and Beyonce--whose own political connections to the Obamas have been widely publicized--are on the slate, as are Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie--whose recent revelation that she underwent a preventive double mastectomy has further boosted her status as a role model to many.

Others on the list include Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Bill and Melinda Gates, Hillary and Bill Clinton, and--as no power ranking is complete without some blue-blooded panache--Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
