Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow was named the "World’s Most Beautiful Woman" for 2013 by People magazine on Wednesday.

The 40-year-old mom of two, who’s married to Coldplay rocker Chris Martin, topped this year’s list and graces the cover of the magazine’s "Most Beautiful People" issue.

“I can’t believe it,” Paltrow said of the honor. “I kept thinking, ‘This can’t be true.’ I’ve never been more surprised or flattered.”

Among the many other stars who made the list: Adele, Beyonce, Jennifer Lawrence, and Halle Berry, who has been on the list sixteen times.

But being world’s most beautiful woman takes hard work. Paltrow told People she works out two hours every day and that her exercise routine can be “a nightmare.” She pushes herself to do it because being in shape is part of her job, she said.

“Let’s face it, it’s much easier to just chill out and watch TV,” said Paltrow, whose next film, "Iron Man 3" is hitting theaters May 3.

Paltrow’s new cookbook, “It’s All Good,” which is on the New York Times best seller list, focuses on a strict diet. But the actress revealed to People that after watching what she eats most of the day, for dinner she has whatever she wants.

“Because I want to enjoy my life and I love pasta,” she told People.

She insisted that she doesn’t impose her dietary standards on her children Apple, 8, and Moses, 7 and allows them to eat carbs. She said Internet rumors claiming otherwise are “silly.”

Paltrow's bikini line for girls 4 to 8, currently featured in her online newsletter GOOP, has also stirred controversy. The $45 black suits, called the “Kids’ New York bikini set” are sold exclusively on the GOOP website and are similar to styles offered for adult women. The skimpy bikinis, according to many moms, sexualize little girls and expose too much skin.

But Paltrow doesn’t see anything wrong with them, according to E! Online. Her spokesperson called the criticism "absurd," adding, "Two-piece bathing suits have been worn by young girls for decades."

In the interview with People, the actress also talked about a miscarriage she had, saying that, “To this day, I feel like I’m missing that kid.”

And of her very private marriage to Martin, Paltrow said, “I never make him feel hemmed in or like he’s in trouble. And on a personal level, as friends, we really get along.”
