‘Simpsons' Stamps Due May 7

D'oh! "The Simpsons" are getting their own stamps.

Starting on May 7, fans will be able to buy postage stamps featuring the animated faces of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, the stars of the long-running FOX show. The show is currently in its 20th year – making it the only TV show to be honored as the sole subject of a stamp set while still in primetime production.

"This is the biggest and most adhesive honor 'The Simpsons' has ever received," series creator and executive producer Matt Groening said in a statement. Groening created the original artwork for the stamps.

"We are excited to celebrate 'The Simpsons' on postage stamps," U.S. Postal Service Executive Director of Stamp Services David Failor said in a statement. "Eyebrow-raising to say the least, this witty, well-written pop icon continues to irreverently satire its parody of a middle-class family as it lampoons American culture. Issuing 'The Simpsons' stamps, which includes known philatelists Bart Simpson, will serve as a great opportunity to interest youngsters into stamp collecting."
