Stars Take to Twitter to Remember Alexander McQueen

Hollywood paid its respects to one of the biggest stars of the fashion world on Thursday.

"RIP Mr. McQueen," Tweeted Kristin Chenoweth, one of the many stars to remember late designer Alexander McQueen, who was found dead in his London residence on Thursday – a shocking start to New York Fashion Week.

"Alexander invited me to my very 1st fashion show (his in London.)," Tweeted Janet Jackson. "There will NEVER b another! Today we lost a True Genius… He possessed a unique creativity that will never be recaptured."

"I just found out Alexander McQueen died!!! I'm in shock! So sad! I'm wearing one of his dresses now! He was such a talented designer," Kim Kardashian Tweeted early Thursday morning.

"RIP Alexander McQueen. so so sad. such a huge loss. He was one of my favorite designers," Tyra Banks Tweeted. "He will be missed."

"ALEXANDER MCQUEEN…you made big bottomed and not so big bottomed girls all over the world look stunning," added Kirstie Alley. "come back soon..give it another go."

Adam Lambert Tweeted simply, "Rip McQueen," and Dita Von Teese added, "Rest in peace, Mr. McQueen."

"Wow I am really saddened by alexander mcqueen's death. Suicide is not the answer. I pray the family will be at peace," Tweeted "Glee" star Amber Riley, while Kelly Osbourne Tweeted, "I cant stop thinknig (sic) about lee I am just devastated my heart goes out to annabelle nelson who is his best friend!"

The loss struck stars ranging from the world of hip-hop (Russell Simmons, who wrote, "Nice guy committed suicide. Hurts to hear.") to "The Hills" ("No, no, no omg so sad," Stephanie Pratt Tweeted).

And Madonna herself released a statement to Access Hollywood in memory of the designer, calling the loss "a tragedy."

"Lee McQueen was a truly unique visionary in the world of fashion," the fashion-forward star said in the statement. "A creator of beauty. What a tragedy."
