Do we smell a new celebrity trend here?

X Factor judge Simon Cowell has joined Miley Cyrus, Ashton Kutcher, Justin Bieber and the Kardashians in what seems to be an endless string of prank police calls to celebs' homes.

The Beverly Hills Police Department confirms to E! News that they received a suspicious circumstances call Sunday afternoon, claiming there was unknown trouble at Cowell's residence.

Specifically, the caller reported that someone within the house had been tied up with duct tape and needed assistance.

Officers responded to the Cowell residence and contacted the reality TV star and confirmed that the call was a false report of an emergency.

When a similar incident happened to Cyrus in August, police confirmed that these types of pranks were called "swatting," and made sure to share that the caller could face severe repercussions.

"If the person is found, they will be arrested and prosecuted because it was a false call, a false allegation," an LAPD spokesperson told E! News.
