Rascal Flatts Gets North Texans on Their Feet

Temperatures soared at Superpages.com center in Dallas Saturday night. Sweat dripped off the backs of necks. Handheld fans whipped at a frantic pace.

But all that was forgotten when the lights dimmed, the big curtain lifted, and Rascal Flatts took the stage at 9:25 p.m., following the opening performance by Darius Rucker.

Fans were up on their feet, and many never sat down as Gary, Jay and Joe Don went down the list of hit after hit for the next 90 minutes.

And for Plano-based JCPenney, it was almost as if Rascal Flatts had come home.

The current tour, which kicked off June 5 in Missouri, is officially called Rascal Flatts American Living Unstoppable Tour presented by JCPenney.

JCPenney executive Ruby Anik said the band embodies the American Living brand, which was developed by Polo Ralph Lauren Global Brand Concepts.

"The advantages are because they are so big, and they're so cross-platform," she said. "They have a real affinity across different groups of audiences. Their core is younger women, and that fits us, too."

Rascal Flatts' two-year deal with American Living was born after the band played at the line's February 2008 launch party. Akin said the band, which wears American Living apparel in concert, goes "above and beyond what the contract says."
