Paris Hilton Break In Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

It's been a rough week for Paris Hilton. First, she's banned from the Las Vegas Wynn after getting charged with drug possession.

Now, the man suspected of trying to break into her Los Angeles home while armed with knives pleaded not guilty to a felony count of attempted residential burglary.

Nathan Lee Parada, 31, of Redlands, was arrested about 6:30 a.m. Aug. 24 by the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Division after Hilton called police to report that someone was outside her home.

"We don't know if this was specifically targeted or a random crime," said Los Angeles police Officer Bruce Borihanh of Media Relations.

Hilton posted a message about the attempted break-in on her Twitter page.

"So scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes (sic)," she wrote. "Cops are here arresting him."

Shortly after the man was arrested, a television news helicopter crew hovering over her home captured footage of Hilton -- wrapped in a towel -- walking onto her balcony, looking around, then going back inside.

Police told the Los Angeles Times that Hilton and her boyfriend heard someone banging on her windows and, when he went to investigate, found the intruder with two knives.

Parada is due back in Van Nuys Superior Court on Sept. 15.

If convicted, he could face up to six years in prison, according to the District Attorney's Office.

In December 2007, an estimated $2 million worth of jewelry and other items were taken from the home. She was not home at the time of that break-in.
