Cameron Douglas Back in Slammer after Failed Caper

Heroin toothbrush fiasco violated terms of house arrest

Cameron Douglas is back in the slammer for allegedly directing his girlfriend to bring him heroin stashed in the battery compartment of an electric toothbrush -- while he was already under house arrest on pending drug charges.

The bone-headed son of actor Michael Douglas was hauled back to Manhattan's Metropolitan Correctional Center after guards baby-sitting him at his mother's house discovered the drugs in the toothbrush, People.com reported.

The failed caper violated the terms of Douglas' home detention where he had been confined since being nabbed for allegedly dealing large amounts of crystal meth across the country. Douglas, 30, was found with half-a-pound of the highly addictive narcotic at the Hotel Gansevoort in July, police sources said.

Douglas will join his girl at the same jail where she's been held since being arrested Monday for acting as a drug mule. Police said the toothbrush contained about seven grams of heroin. The girlfriend, Kelly Sott, 32, said she had no idea the dental device had drugs hidden in it, cops said.

Meanwhile, his famous family released a statement for the first time since his arrest saying they were "devastated and very disappointed in Cameron's recent behaviour."

"Any family who has dealt with substance abuse knows how devastating it can be," the statement added, according to People.com.

Cameron Douglas has acted in movies including 2003's "It Runs in the Family," starring his Oscar-award winning father and his grandfather Kirk Douglas.
