Cybill Shepherd's Son Accepted To Pretrial Program Over Theft Case

Philadelphia prosecutors have agreed to accept the son of actress Cybill Shepherd into a pretrial diversion program in a theft case against him.

Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim of Sebastopol, Calif., is charged with stealing cash, a camera and other items from carry-on luggage during a cross-country United Airlines flight in January.

The University of Pennsylvania student appeared Tuesday in Philadelphia Municipal Court. Prosecutors say his record will be cleared if he abides by all conditions while he's in the program. Another hearing is scheduled for June 4.

Outside the courtroom, the defendant and his attorney declined to comment to WPVI-TV.

Shepherd-Oppenheim is the son of the "Moonlighting" star and her ex-husband, chiropractor Bruce Oppenheim.
