Couric's New TV Show Could Be Announced Monday

Katie Couric will be the new face of ABC daytime TV next year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, an announcement by Disney/ABC of Couric’s new talk show could come on Monday. In addition to her new show, which is expected to launch in September 2012, the former "CBS Evening News" anchor will also be a contributor to ABC News programs.

Talk of Couric’s new show had been rumored in the media, and NBC and CBS pulled out of consideration. Former NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker will serve as executive producer on the show.

The Hollywood Reporter speculates that the show will cost over $1 million a week to produce for a run of approximately 39 weeks per year. It could also cost Disney/ABC millions of  dollars to sell and market the program.

Couric reportedly could make $5-$10 million a year on a two-year agreement from the network, with an option to make more depending on the success of the program. Sources say that the show will be interview-focused, a strength of Couric’s from her time on the “Today” show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
