Russell Crowe finally has his Robin Hood leading lady – Cate Blanchett.
Blanchett will play Maid Marian in the upcoming adventure film, starring Crowe as Robin of Loxley, according to Variety.

Ridley Scott will direct the film, which had been called "Nottingham" but is undergoing a title change.
The script for the film has reportedly evolved into a "Gladiator"-esque version of the legendary Robin Hood tale.

Blanchett steps into the role of Marian, which at one time belonged to Sienna Miller. However, she left the project late last year.

Filming on the $130 million movie is slated to begin in early April.
Blanchett last appeared on the big screen opposite Brad Pitt in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."

She will also lend her voice to the upcoming animated film, "The Fantastic Mr. Fox," alongside George Clooney.
