Craig Nevius, the producer of "A Wing and a Prayer," the documentary of Farrah's three-year fight against cancer, issued a statement to NBC News on Saturday but would not provide details.

"As has been our policy since Ms. Fawcett's recurrence of cancer, we will not comment on any story or rumor or lie that originates in the illegitimate press as this one has," he said. "The media has a responsibility to be more than a game of 'telephone' wherein one outlet reports to another and the story grows and grows — and changes. My voice mail and e-mail are testament to that chain of events over the last 24 hours. I must have close to 300 messages such as yours from all over the world."

"I believe the report you're asking about was brought to the market place (as in for sale) around 6:00 pm last night by Splash. I believe that Radar On Line got it from them," he said of NBC News' request for comment on the reports of Farrah's hospitalization. "Legitimate media outlets such as your own have a responsibility to, well, be legitimate. And that means not to report information that comes from the likes of the National Enquirer, Splash, Radar On Line and Entertainment Tonight (just as much of a bottom feeder in my opinion)."

Farrah has been battling on and off with cancer since her diagnosis in September 2006. Following chemotherapy and radiation, she was diagnosed as cancer free, only to find out in spring 2007 that the cancer had returned.

Farrah has been battling on and off with cancer since her diagnosis in September 2006.

Following chemotherapy and radiation, she was diagnosed as cancer free, only to find out in spring 2007 that the cancer had returned.

In February, Nevius told Access that the star was doing very well since receiving an advanced treatment in Germany.

And on Friday, Access reported that "Wing," which follows Farrah's courageous fight against the disease, will air on NBC. A date has not been set.

"NBC is as courageous as Farrah for airing the subject matter that she is filming in prime time," Nevius previously said in a statement released to Access. "Ultimately, the film will do what Farrah has always done so well: get people's attention and get them talking," he added. "And those are always the first steps toward effecting social change of any kind."
