General Responsibilities:

Role Purpose: NBC 5 has a unique opportunity for an experienced marketing producer to manage the daily strategy for evening prime-time promotion, the station’s most valuable marketing real estate. The Supervising Producer, Brand Marketing leads daily promotional support for NBC 5’s news operations by setting and executing daily brand strategy, writing, producing, and editing compelling emotional messaging, and generating marketing content for social media.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary evening marketing point of contact for the News Department on daily promotional efforts
  • Own the full cycle of daily promotional planning from ideation to execution
  • Supervise brand strategy and collaborate with the News Department to execute dynamic and compelling brand messaging on a daily basis
  • Actively participate in daily news meetings, lead promotional strategy discussion and planning, and collaborate with counterparts in News to arrive at a final concept
  • Work with brand and news managers to implement strategies for TSR scheduling and planning
  • Coordinate with brand and news digital teams to execute consistent news messaging across multiple platforms
  • Understand and effectively communicate the value and responsibility of audience retention, available inventory, and program characteristics and make promotional decisions based on these elements
  • Write, produce, direct, and edit compelling day of news image, tsr/topical, and proof of brand campaigns for news promotion
  • Revise and schedule spot inventory as necessary to execute daily planning, coordinate with traffic, and off site master control to maintain log accuracy and integrity

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of broadcast experience in television promotion
  • Bachelors degree with emphasis on advertising/marketing/television production or equivalent experience
  • Provide creative reel / portfolio showing depth of experience

  • Must be willing to work in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news
  • Schedules may rotate, but must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and overnights. This role will primarily work an evening shift.
  • Must be able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice if needed
  • Must be 18 years or greater
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must accept Solutions as NBCUniversal’s Dispute Resolution Program

  • Proven ability to create effective advertising messaging using knowledge of audience and research
  • Proven ability to effectively advocate for a marketing position and influence others, while listening and responding to internal client concerns
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Dynamic understanding of emotional marketing, brand marketing, and storytelling
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and produce advertising messaging
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit content that drives tune in
  • Advanced knowledge of the post-production process including experience in Adobe CC and field production
  • A strong understanding of fundamental design, sense of color, typography, and composition
  • Ability to manage a variety of projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and complete all deliverables on time
  • Work with varying production styles while employing strong client service skills
  • Ability to meet demanding deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Ability to shoot and edit preferred
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish is a plus
