NBC 5 / KXAS-TV announced today that Kris Gutierrez will be joining the station to co-anchor NBC 5 News at 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, beginning March 2015. Gutierrez will join co-anchor Deanna Dewberry and also report high-profile stories from the field.

Gutierrez is returning to Texas after beginning his broadcast career working at stations in Sherman (KXII), Austin (KVUE) and Houston (KPRC). He spent five years as a Dallas-based national correspondent for FOX News, and earned his BS in Broadcast Journalism from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX.

“This is a Texas homecoming for a journalist seasoned by regional stories like the Fort Hood shootings and the devastating Joplin tornado,” said Susan Tully, NBC 5 Vice President of News. “I think viewers will find Kris a wonderful addition to NBC 5 News at 5 p.m. each day.”

Since March 2012, Gutierrez has been co-anchoring the Monday-Friday morning newscast on WBBM-TV, Chicago, IL.
