Win Thursday Would Be Fantastic for Rangers

Yes, it's true that the first and third game of the 162-game season have been about as ugly as you could possibly imagine if you're a fan of the Texas Rangers.

You lost by a combined score of 18-0 and over that time managed a grand total of three hits from an offense that is supposed to be rejuvenated this year with several returns from injury. Heck, even the game you won saw the Rangers score just three runs.

Yovani Gallardo and Ross Detwiler severely underdelivered and taxed a questionable middle of the bullpen and have left the Rangers sitting at 1-2 after the first three games of the season. But guess what?

A win today in Oakland to split that opening four-game set would be about all you could've hoped for as a Rangers fan.

If Nick Martinez can outpitch someone we've never heard of prior to this week, the Rangers have a great chance to do just that.

So while the losses have been really, really ugly, it's by no means time to throw in the towel, people.
