Who's On, Who's Not?: April 29

In a weekly staple, we'll discuss who's in a groove and who's in a rut for the Texas Rangers.

Who's On?

Adrian Beltre โ€” The Rangers have been waiting for their veteran third baseman to start swinging a hot bat, but the notoriously slow starter did his thing and slept through the first month or so of the season. That's starting to wear off though, as Beltre is batting .304 with a double and a homer over his past six games.

Elvis Andrus โ€” After a rough start of his own, Andrus is starting to perform at the plate, too. The veteran shortstop is batting .292 with a double over his last six.

Nick Martinez โ€” The second-year starter has been the ace of the Rangers' staff this year, and it's not even been close. He's coming off another outing of six innings and no earned runs over the weekend in Anaheim and the Rangers have won all of Martinez's starts.

Who's Off?

Keone Kela โ€” The Rangers have high hopes for the hard-throwing 21-year-old reliever, but so far he's not really living up to them. In his last two innings of work, Kela has allowed two runs on a homer and two other hits.

Shin-Soo Choo โ€” The $100 million-plus man is batting less than .100 on the season and hasn't had a hit in 10 days. He's currently in an 0-for-15 skid. Yuck.
