When Fielder's Hitting, He's Mashing

Prince Fielder's numbers so far this year aren't even close to his start last year when he went on to win several different AL Comeback Player of the Year awards.

The burly designated hitter is batting just .173 through his first 14 games with just two extra-base hits. But, those two extra-base hits were both no-doubt laser shots to right field in Globe Life Park, including his first-inning bomb on Tuesday that got the Rangers off to a good start in a 7-5 series-opening win over the Astros.

Fielder has 15 strikeouts to just six walks in those 14 games, but he also happens to lead the team with 13 RBIs, so he's producing runs even if he's not hitting much.

But again, when he's hitting, he's mashing. So maybe that power outage everyone fears hasn't fully set in yet, after all.
