Washington Receives His Old Caddy

It's been a couple of months now since one of the best pieces of journalism to come out in a while was run in "D Magazine" about Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington.

It was done, largely without Washington's cooperation as he prefers to stay out of the limelight in the off-season, but it was effective, nonetheless.

The story talks about Washington's humble roots and how he still lives in a part of New Orleans that would not associate with a major league manager.

It also mentions his car that he lost in Hurricane Katrina, which also severely damaged his home that he's since rebuilt and continues to reside in.

Today, Ron Washington received a black 1985 Cadillac Biarritz at home plate at Rangers Ballpark from team owner/president Nolan Ryan. It's been refurbished to be an exact copy of Washington's car that he lost in the storm.

Not a bad gift from the Rangers to Washington.
