Wash Announces AL All-Star Coaching Staff

Ron Washington is serving as the American League manager for the second consecutive year

Texas Rangers’ manager Ron Washington, as the manager of the 2011 American League Champions and therefore the 2012 AL All-Star team, announced his coaching staff today, along with National League manager Tony LaRussa.

Joining Wash in the American League dugout will be Ned Yost, manager of the Kansas City Royals (the hosts of the 2012 Midsummer Classic) and Bob Melvin, manager of the Oakland Athletics. Rangers’ third base coach Dave Anderson, first base coach Gary Pettis, hitting instructor Scott Coolbaugh, bullpen coach Andy Hawkins, pitching coach Mike Maddux and bench coach Jackie Moore will be on-hand as well to help with preparations and such.

Rounding out the American League All Stars’ staff will be Nick Kenney and Lonnie Soloff, head trainers for the Royals and Indians, respectively.

Aside from his own Cardinals’ staff, LaRussa has invited Brewers’ manager Ron Roenicke and Mets’ manager Terry Collins to join him as National League coaches.

The All-Star Game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 10, at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. It will be the 83rd edition of the Midsummer Classic. To vote your Rangers into the game, follow this link. Voting ends on June 28.
