Texas Rangers Spring Training Notes: 2012

First spring game is March 4

Sunday, Feb. 26:

-- SS Elvis Andrus did not participate in on field activities Sunday as he recovers from the removal of the Plantar's wart from his right heel. He will be reevaluated again Monday and is officially day-to-day.

-- RHP Matt West (right elbow fatigue) and LHP Joe Beimel (left elbow soreness) were limited in Sunday’s workout. West is scheduled to throw on Monday while Beimel will be sidelined for a minimum of 2-3 days.

-- Josh Hamilton clarified remarks from Friday where he said he didn't feel he owed the Rangers anything and he made it clear he wants to stay in Texas when he said "My loyalty is here."

-- Manager Ron Washington made his annual speech to the club and, like last year, put the World Series loss to rest.

Saturday, Feb. 25:

-- For the second time, Yu Darvish impressed after throwing only a few pitches to hitters during a bullpen session.

Friday, Feb. 24:

-- Josh Hamilton spoke with the media and talked about his recent setback with alcohol.  He also started a bit of a firestorm after responding to a question from NBC 5's Newy Scruggs where he said he didn't feel as though he owed the Rangers anything.

-- Darvish pitched to a few hitters Friday.  The consensus was overwhelmingly positive.
