Surprise, Surprise: Josh Hamilton Named AL Player of the Week

Hamilton hit an incredible nine home runs last week

In the most predictable piece of news in the history of ever, Texas Rangers’ outfielder Josh Hamilton has been named the best player in the American League, as far as last week was concerned.

It was announced Monday that Hamilton was the American League Player of the Week, after belting a ridiculous nine home runs and 18 RBIs last week in a stretch that included just the 16th four home run performance in Major League history.

On the year, Hamilton is hitting .402 with 18 home runs, 44 RBIs and a .455 OBP.

This is the second time Hamilton has been named the AL Player of the Week. He also earned the honor in June of 2010.
