Ross Looking to Build on Great Outing

Robbie Ross has a lot of things going in the right direction for him heading into his start on Thursday against the Seattle Mariners.

First off, Ross was fantastic in his last outing in Houston in which he went five innings in an emergency start on a strict pitch count. In those five innings, he allowed a grand total of zero hits. He'll look to see how many hitless innings he can throw together starting with the first inning tonight.

Secondly, the Mariners have actually been pretty lost against Ross this year. In fact, his only two quality starts this season came against the Mariners earlier in the season, the best of which was a 7 2/3-inning scoreless outing.

Ross is still hoping to be in the Rangers' starting rotation plans for 2015, and it looks like he'll have an opportunity to make a case for himself. While it seems he's more of a fit for the bullpen, he's made it clear his desire is to be a starter.

He should be on a bit more liberal pitch count on Thursday night, so that won't be an issue. We'll see if he can continue his run of good fortune.
