The Texas Rangers likely won't have too many representatives in next month's MLB All-Star Game, and they almost surely won't have any starters.
That's because the latest update of the fan balloting, which determines the game's starting positional players, shows no Rangers anywhere near the top of the list, despite their recent turnaround that has them playing perhaps the best baseball in the league since mid-May.
The Rangers' best player all year, Prince Fielder, is sitting well behind the pack in third place among AL first basemen with 2.39 million votes, seven million behind leader Miguel Cabrera and about six million behind second-place Eric Hosmer, who was recently passed up by Cabrera.
Adrian Beltre, who is currently on the disabled list with a sprained thumb, is well behind the pack among AL third basemen, sitting in fifth place. Fan voting will run through July 2, a week before the game is set to be played.
At this point, it's almost certain no Rangers will be in the starting lineup, but Fielder, Beltre and possibly some pitchers could be in line to be selected by the players and by AL manager Ned Yost, of the Royals.
