Rangers Stay Put At No. 2 In ESPN Power Rankings

Texas is now the only AL West team in the top five

According to this week’s ESPN power rankings, the Texas Rangers remain the second best team in baseball behind the New York Yankees. Texas stayed put at the second spot from last week in this latest edition of the ranking, while their American League West rivals, the Los Angeles Angels, slipped out of the top five, from no. 4 last week to no. 6 this week.

Rounding out the top five after New York and Texas are the Washington Nationals (3), the Chicago White Sox (4) and the Cincinnati Reds (5).

The Rangers and Angels remain the only representatives of the AL West in the top ten. The Oakland A’s moved up a spot from last week from no. 19 to 18 and the Seattle Mariners, who dropped two of three to Texas at home this weekend, stayed put at no. 26.

Texas is set to continue their west coast swing this week, with a two-game set against the A’s in Oakland beginning on Tuesday and a three-game weekend series with the Halos in Anaheim beginning on Friday.
