Rangers Send Kelvin De La Cruz Back To Cleveland

The Rangers traded LHP Kelvin De La Cruz to the Indians Wednesday, less than a month after trading for him

The Texas Rangers have sent LHP Kelvin De La Cruz back to Cleveland, less than a month after acquiring him from the Tribe.

De La Cruz was sent from Cleveland to Texas on February 21 in exchange for cash considerations. On Wednesday morning, De La Cruz was optioned to Double-A Frisco, and that afternoon he was returned to the Indians--you got it--in exchange for cash considerations.

Through 23 games (and 16 starts) with Double-A Akron in 2011, De La Cruz went 5-6 with a 4.19 ERA. He was designated for assignment by Cleveland just over a week before he was sent to Texas, on February 13.

With the trade, Texas now has 39 players on the 40-man roster.
