Rangers' Perfect Night Beats Pinstripes, Raindrops

Beat the Yankees.

And while we’re at it, beat the rain.

Despite the wind and rain and hail that battered parts of DFW Tuesday, the Rangers enjoyed themselves a perfect night at Globe Life Park.

Despite ominous forecasts and dire predictions that limited an announced crowd of 26,000 to around only half of that, they broke out of their offensive slump, got a stellar pitching performance and managed to get out of the stadium before the storm rolled through Arlington.

Said winning pitcher A.J. Griffin, “We were just trying get the game in before the rain came.”

Despite fans bringing umbrellas and constantly checking radar on their smartphones, weather was never an issue. Why? Mainly because the Rangers’ longest pitching outing of the year produced their shortest game of the season. Griffin continued his impressive return to the Majors, throwing 8 innings on only 89 pitches. Despite scoring 10 runs, the Rangers’ finished the game in only 2:19.

After a 5-run 3rd inning this game was basically going through the motions and managing to stay dry. The Rangers announced in the 8th inning that fans should evacuate the upper deck of the stadium, but the heavy rain didn’t hit Arlington until about 45 minutes after the final pitch.

Fans that brought umbrellas didn’t need them. But it was nice to finally see the Rangers using their bats.
