Rangers Give Wash 2-Year Contract Extension

Wash to be the skipper through 2014

Jon Daniels and Nolan Ryan like back-to-back American League Pennants and have rewarded manager Ron Washington accordingly -- with a two-year contract extension.

The Rangers said Monday that Wash's deal is now good through 2014. Financial details about Washington's two-year extension were not disclosed, per club policy.

He is the only manager in club history to increase his team's win total in four straight seasons after his initial season.

Washington, 59, will start his 6th season as the Rangers skipper this spring. He trails only Bobby Valentine and Johnny Oates for the most wins and most games.  He has a 427-373 record.
