Rangers Dedicate Day, Astros Game To West Victims

The Texas Rangers have honored residents of a town devastated by a fertilizer plant explosion during a 30-minute ceremony before a game against the Houston Astros.

The Rangers invited first responders and thousands of residents from West, where the April 17 blast killed 15 people and displaced hundreds more.

Kathy Matus, whose brother was among the first responders killed in the blast, says she couldn't thank the Rangers enough for helping the town with the healing process.

During the ceremony before Saturday night's game, city officials were presented with a total of $140,000 in donations from Major League Baseball, the Players Association and the Rangers' foundation.

Rangers player Lance Berkman, who grew up in Houston, donated a fire truck to West's volunteer fire department.
