Rangers' Big 4 Key in 2015 Resurgence

Last year, Prince Fielder barely played in 40 games, Mitch Moreland barely beat that mark and Shin-Soo Choo played with a bum ankle for months before finally shutting it down.

The Rangers' four best hitters last year were Adrian Beltre, Choo, Robinson Chirinos and Alex Rios. Those four combined for 49 home runs (led by Beltre's 17) and 211 RBIs (Beltre, 77).

Now, fast-forward to right now. Fielder has been healthy all year, Choo has been the best hitter in baseball since the all-star break after an awful first half, Beltre has been Beltre and Moreland has had a career year at the plate.

Those four have carried the Rangers' offense, and it's easy to see why.

This year, they've combined for 84 home runs (Fielder/Moreland, 23) and 336 RBIs (Fielder, 96), which has keyed the Rangers' run in September highlighted by an offense that's suddenly scary.

There is no question the Rangers' unexpected pitching performance without Yu Darvish and mostly without Derek Holland has been a big reason for their unexpected success this year, but they're scoring runs again and making other teams' pitching staffs fear them.
