Rangers Announce 25-Man ALCS Roster

The Rangers opted for more arms in the bullpen on the ALCS roster, taking an eight-man bullpen into a best of seven series with the Detroit Tigers.

Right-handed pitcher Yoshinori Tateyama was added to the roster and catcher Matt Treanor was removed.

Tateyama made 39 relief appearances in the regular season, but didn't make the cut in the ALDS series with Tampa Bay.

Ron Washington said in the five-game scenario of the ALDS he could have a smaller pen, but in a press conference Wednesday Washington and GM Jon Daniels both hinted that the next roster would have more pitchers and less fielders.

Treanor, who was on the 2010 AL Championship team, re-joined the team just weeks ago, to serve as backup to one of the best catching tandems in the majors with Mike Napoli and Yorvit Torrealba.
