Two historic accomplishments were realized in Sunday night's series finale between the Tampa Bay Rays and your Texas Rangers.
First of all, the Rays were the first team to hand the Rangers a series loss, nearly a month into the 2012 season. Second, Rays starter David Price got his first win over the Rangers in his 10th career start, including a pair of playoff losses.
Price improved to 4-1 on the season after entering the game with a career line against the Rangers that looked nothing like an All-Star's: 0-6 with a 5.30 ERA. But he shut the Rangers bats down on Sunday in a 5-2 Rays win, with one of the Rangers' runs coming on a groundball out off the bat of Elvis Andrus.
"Personally, for myself, I've never beat those guys, so first and foremost, that feels great," Price said after the game. "But I'm pumped that we won. I can turn that page now. It feels great."
Price certainly caught a break when early-season MVP favorite Josh Hamilton left the game in the third inning with back spasms after driving in the Rangers' first run of the night.
