Potential Targets: Jason Grilli

Target: Jason Grilli, RHP

Type of move: Free agency

2012 stats: 2.91 ERA in 58 2/3 innings, 90 Ks, 22 walks, 1.14 WHIP, 2 saves

Grilli is an old Rangers bullpen guy, as he was on the club in 2009 before missing 2010 and going to Pittsburgh in 2011, where he's pitched the past two seasons. With Grilli, you get a fireballer who at 6-5, 225 pounds can absolute bring it as evidenced by his 90 strikeouts in 58 2/3 innings. That's quite a ratio.

With Mike Adams and Koji Uehara questionable, at best, to return to the Rangers this year and Uehara probably being more likely to return that leaves a key spot open in either the seventh or eighth inning, depending on who goes and who stays.

Bringing in Grilli for a 2- or 3-year deal would be a great, cheap addition to the Rangers' bullpen as he cleared $1 million for the first time in his 10-year career this past season.
