Potential Target: Joba Chamberlain

In an ongoing series, we'll take a look at possible free-agent and trade targets for the Texas Rangers this winter.

Target: Joba Chamberlain, RHP

2014 stats: 2-5, 3.57 ERA, 59 strikeouts, 24 walks, 2 saves, 63 innings pitched

Chamberlain, who seems like he's been around forever but is still in his 20s, just missed out on a career-high for innings pitched in 2014 (not including two seasons in which he was primarily a starter for the Yankees). He also turned in his best ERA since 2011, when he pitched in only 28 2/3 innings, so really, it was his best year since 2007 or 2008 — his first two big-league seasons.

Chamberlain has been a bit of a loose cannon in the past, and struggled through some awful seasons in The Bronx, but he got a change of scenery by going to Detroit last season and it seemed to do him a lot of good. He could be a nice addition to a bullpen that appears to have some really solid talent, but also lacks experience in a big way.
