Potential Target: Carlos Carrasco

In an ongoing series, we'll take a look at possible free-agent and trade targets for the Texas Rangers this winter.

2015 stats: 14-12 record, 3.63 ERA, 183 2/3 innings, 216 strikeouts, 43 walks, 10.6 K/9 innings

Carrasco just signed a long-term deal with Cleveland prior to last season, and he pitched great after his big payday, as evidenced by his wonderful K/9 innings. He's a right-handed arm, which the Rangers would prefer over lefties with their rotation already so lefty-heavy, and he would slide in really nicely as a No. 3 starter behind Yu Darvish and Cole Hamels.

Carrasco's deal is highly club-friendly for the type of pitcher he is, so he wouldn't come cheap in the way of prospects, and he might even require a package of prospects and someone like Derek Holland in return. He's signed through 2018 at four years for $22 million but his deal does go up every year, albeit still affordable.

He actually has club options in 2019 and 2020 at $9 and $9.5 million, respectively, which could make his deal really great if he continues to pitch like he has.
