Pitching Prospect Promoted to Triple-A

The Texas Rangers' top pitching prospect made the next climb in his eventual ascent to the major leagues on Thursday when the club promoted 22-year-old Luke Jackson from Double-A Frisco to Triple-A Round Rock.

Jackson has been fantastic for Frisco this season, going 8-2 with a 3.02 ERA in 83 1/3 innings. Another promising stat: Jackson has struck out 83 batters and walked just 24 — a strikeout an inning.

At this point, it might not be too much longer before Jackson in getting a swim in Arlington, though it probably wouldn't come until September when rosters expand, unless there are some more injuries to starting pitchers.

It's never a good thing when a fanbase turns to the minor leagues to look for stuff to be happy about. That's about what it's come to for Rangers fans this year, but they have a lot to be excited about there with the likes of Jackson, Joey Gallo and Jorge Alfaro.
