On the Move: Adrian Beltre

The Texas Rangers are certainly in no position to be buyers come the July 31 trade deadline, but the question is to what degree they will be sellers?

On the move: Adrian Beltre, 3B

2014 stats: .337 batting average, .383 on-base percentage, .917 OPS, 20 doubles, 13 home runs, 51 RBIs

Reasons to move: Like Darvish, Beltre would bring back an insane package that could go a long way in rebuilding the Rangers' farm system and setting them on the path to success in a couple of years. To go on top of that, Beltre isn't getting any younger, as he turned 35 in April and has historically bad leg muscles with several hamstring tweaks to his name and the first quadriceps injury of his career earlier this year that had him on the disabled list for two weeks after he played in 161 games last year.

Reasons to keep: Hmm, we'll start with pure logic. Beltre is the best position player in the organization and second-best in the entire club with the exception of Darvish. He's the heart and soul of the team and is a huge fan favorite who produces to the tune of leading the American League in hitting. Losing Beltre would kill the team this year, even though it's really already dead and leave a big hole at third base in 2015 when you consider Joey Gallo might not be fully ready to take over until 2016.

Final verdict: Good GMs suck at being loyal. Ask guys like Bill Belichick, and then conversely ask someone like Jerry Jones. Hanging on to fan favorites, even successful ones, past their prime can be detrimental. But with that said, it just doesn't make sense to trade Beltre if you're Jon Daniels. Just don't see it happening.
