Napoli Out Of The Lineup Again With Quad Issue

Mike Napoli is out of the Rangers' lineup for a second straight day as he deals with a sore quad

Rangers catcher Mike Napoli is out of the lineup once again today in Boston as he continues to deal with a nagging quad issue, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

After going 0-for-4 on Monday, Napoli sat out Tuesday despite having some solid career numbers against Tuesday’s starter, Jon Lester. In 15 at bats against Wednesday’s starter, Josh Beckett, Napoli has four hits, including two doubles and a pair of home runs--but evidently, the combination of the quad issue and the presence of Geovany Soto were enough to convince Texas that Nap could use another day.

The Rangers will have a scheduled day off on Thursday before coming back home for a three-game set with the Detroit Tigers, and the thought is that Napoli could return fresh after the off-day for the weekend series. Napoli is currently hitting .226 on the year, with 17 home runs and 40 RBIs.
