Lewis Tunes Up to Start Opener for Rangers

Rangers beat Padres 5-3

Colby Lewis tuned up to start on opening day, pitching four innings Sunday as the Texas Rangers beat the San Diego Padres 5-3.

Lewis allowed two runs and four hits. He'll pitch Friday at home against the Chicago White Sox.

Closer Joe Nathan pitched a perfect ninth for Texas. The Rangers won six of their final seven exhibitions after beginning spring training with three wins in their first 14 games.

Adrian Beltre hit an RBI double and David Murphy added a two-run single for Texas. Jesus Guzman hit his fifth home run for the Padres.

San Diego starter Cory Luebke struggled for the second consecutive start, giving up all five runs on six hits and two walks in two innings.
