Latest Cuban Prospect Set to Decide Soon

Yoan Moncada appears to be the next big Cuban baseball prospect, following along the lines of his countrymen Yasiel Puig, Yoenis Cespedes and even Texas Rangers center fielder Leonys Martin.

The 19-year-old middle infielder, who played second base in Cuba but has worked out for numerous MLB teams recently at shortstop, is a chiseled freak and appears to have the potential to have a smashing debut in the bigs like Puig and Cespedes both did.

The Rangers are one of the nine teams Moncada worked out for recently, and Moncada said he hopes to be finished working out for teams by Feb. 23 while having his destination chose by the end of the month, according to the Sporting News.

It would seem like a long shot for the Rangers to take a serious bid on Moncada given their insane surplus of young middle infielders, but you never know as it could turn some of that surplus into some pretty nice trade bait.

However, the Rangers are restricted in their international signing allotment because they exceeded it last season, so that makes it especially unlikely.
