Is Banister Ruining Matt Bush?

Look, we get it: Matt Bush isn't pitching's next great thing, at least not yet.

The 30-year-old rookie is just more than a dozen games into his big-league career and might turn out to be nothing more than a flash in the pan. But with his high-90s heater and his sharp breaking stuff, not to mention a reliever's mindset that screams "I'm a bad mutha, don't mess with me" and it's not too likely.

But Rangers skipper Jeff Banister seems dead set on messing it all up.

Just a day after the Rangers announced Bush would no longer throw on three straight days, Bush was in the game in the ninth inning with a five-run lead in a seemingly unnecessary appearance.

And it didn't go well. Pitching for the sixth time in eight days, Bush was ripped apart by Indians hitters. He allowed three straight singles and a run while retiring just one batter before creating a save situation and bringing in Sam Dyson for another appearance that was unnecessary just moments earlier.

It's an ongoing problem for the Rangers' bullpen which appears to be more and more overworked by the day, and it all falls on Banister.

Look, Banister is really great, and the Rangers are lucky to have him as their boss man. But he's flirting with disaster as far as an overly tired bullpen as we head into the dog days of Arlington summer.
