TORONTO, CANADA - MAY 5: Derek Holland #45 of the Texas Rangers looks on after giving up a run in the first inning during MLB game action against the Toronto Blue Jays on May 5, 2016 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (Photo by Tom Szczerbowski/Getty Images)

It's a good thing the Rangers are playing in Oakland on Monday night, because it's hard to think about a park in Major League Baseball that would be equally friendly to pitchers, and right now, Derek Holland needs all the help he can get.

Holland will take the hill in Oakland on Monday to open a three-game set against the fourth-place A's, and he'll be looking to buck a recent trend of getting absolutely shelled.

In fact, in his past two starts, Holland has combined to work just five innings and he's allowed 16 earned runs. In the process, he's watched his ERA climb from 2.48 to 6.09 over those two outings.

Holland needs to clean outing on Monday night, and the possibility seems pretty strong if he can bring a decent repertoire to the hill against a light-hitting A's team in the pitcher friendly park with tons of foul territory and deep fences to go with a pesky marine layer during night games.

If he can't get that, it might be time to start wondering what is wrong with the veteran lefty.
