Holland Makes Rangers Return

Derek Holland has been all over the place this spring.

He started with the Texas Rangers in Arizona, then joined Team USA in the World Baseball Classic and made a good showing for himself before the Americans were eliminated last week in the semifinals by tournament runner-up Puerto Rico.

He returned to Arizona but did so with a stomach virus before making his return to the mound for the Rangers organization on Tuesday, pitching in a Triple-A Round Rock game against Tucson.

Holland got the start, went 4 2/3 innings and gave up five earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and two walks. Holland wasn't concerned with the outing and the Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson tweeted Holland's location and velocity looked good.

Holland should likely get one more spring start sometime next week before being in line to start against the Astros in Houston in the finale of a three-game set to open the regular season on April 3 before an off-day in advance of the Los Angeles Angels coming to Arlington for the home opener on Friday April 5.
