Holland Looking to Go Five Innings Against Cubs

Maybe he can find some inspiration from the ghost of Harry Caray, but whatever the case, Derek Holland will be looking to make a Rangers' spring first when he takes the hill on Wednesday afternoon in a Cactus League game against the Chicago Cubs.

Holland will be looking to be the first Rangers starter to go five innings in an "A game" against big-league players, as Cole Hamels has eclipsed the mark in a "B game" this spring, mostly against minor-league hitters.

Holland is a huge wild card for the Rangers this season — call him an X-factor — and the Rangers are counting on him to show his great talent with more consistency, especially while they're waiting on Yu Darvish to return and get back up to speed.

A good outing today against a strong Cubs lineup and the league's favorite to win the World Series, albeit in the spring, would be a good starting point to his ramping up for the regular season in a couple of weeks.
