Derek Holland is excited for Friday's start, and with good reason.
It's the polarizing lefty's first start of any opener, whether it be season opener or home opener, and Holland will be looking to extend a pretty nice streak for him that's dating back to 2013 as he made just six appearances (five starts) last year in September after missing the first five months after knee surgery.
Holland is looking to make his ninth straight start without taking a loss on Friday against the Houston Astros after he went 2-0 with a 1.46 ERA in his brief 2014 season. His last three starts of the 2013 seasons were all either wins or no-decisions.
Another win on Friday would be a great start for Holland's 2015 season as he's expected to be the Rangers' de facto ace with the loss of Yu Darvish for the season, so it's a big day for Holland and a big day for streaks.
