Hamilton, Rangers Squaring Off

The Los Angeles Angels have listed new free agent acquisition Josh Hamilton on their travel roster for tonight's Cactus League game against the Texas Rangers in Surprise, Ariz.

You know what that means...

It means Hamilton is likely to play tonight against his old team tonight, the one he left via free agency in December and face his old teammates for the first time. Derek Lowe is scheduled to make the start for the Rangers, not one of Hamilton's former teammates.

Hamilton is having a so-so spring thus far, hitting .265 with just a .297 on-base percentage, one home run, five RBIs, two walks and three strikeouts.

The real thing to look forward to will be April 5 when the Rangers have their home opener against the Angels and Hamilton has to come back to the friendly confines of Rangers Ballpark. Some day, maybe, Rangers fans will be able to see all the good Hamilton did here, but after his recent comments about DFW's cred as a "baseball town", it might be some tough sailing for Hamilton when his name is announced.
